The Majestic Theatre and Friends of Plum Island, a committee of the Illinois Audubon Society, announce the roster of artists to play a benefit concert "Eagle Fest" being held on the Majestic Theatre stage Oct.19th and 20th, 2002 in downtown Streator. The two day event "Eagle Fest" is being held to raise awareness and funds to save Plum Island near Starved Rock State Park, a wintering bald eagle habitat from commercial development. Joseph Standing Bear Schranz of Midwest Soaring Foundation who will be a special guest speaker at the event recently stated. "This event will bring together all walks of people for a common cause. While this may seem like an insignificant island in the Illinois river it symbolizes something larger. When all walks of people come together they can promote that which is good in all of us. That we may respect what we have borrowed from future generations yet unborn. The burial ground of our ancestors on Plum Island were sacred then, and are still sacred now. I am very pleased to open "Eagle Fest" with Al Jewer, of Fort Atkinson, WI who will be playing Music of the Native American Flute" concluded Joseph Standing Bear Schranz. Majestic Theatre spokes person, Katie Troccoli, added "A wide cross section of musicians and artists will be performing at the event".

On Saturday Oct. 19th, 2002, Eagle Fest will open with Al Jewer playing music of the Native American Flute, then local group Clarity, from the Flanagan/Blackstone area who include Nate Steinback, Jeff Tammen, Mitch and Toad Tannahill are scheduled to appear playing original alternative rock. Then Trim, a hard rock act from Carbondale, IL featuring Ryan Kavinski (formerly of Ottawa) Scott Mueller and Dave Murdoch. From Albuquerque, New Mexico comes country music artist, Gabriel Lee, who has written music specifically for this event. We will be enjoying Great Plains Gypsies, featuring Dan Whitaker, an Americana, folk blues, rock and country four piece band out of Chicago. Wrapping up the evening will be Philadelphia born John Condron with his band. Condron will be performing original rock from his album, "My Own Device".

On Sunday Oct. 20th, 2002, we open with the act Betty Ford who are Kevin Steder, Josh and Jordan Daniels, of Marseilles, IL . The Bruises, Aja Blue (formerly Marseilles) and Jennie Black of Peoria will perform an original acoustic set. Country artist Gabriel Lee will take the stage. The band Remedy, who are Brian Roberts, Jimi Castro, Randy Kouba and Jeff Gargas from Chicago will appear playing original melodic rock and roll. Closing the evening will be local country music artist Steve Sharp and his band. Steve Sharp had the country music album of the year in 1998.

Through out the event there will be special guest artists and speakers appearing making for a very interesting couple of days of fun, music, and community awareness.
